Soft-Top-Threads

Hey Guys, while down in Aberdeen, wheelin, for a week, i drove into alot of grown over trails, alot of limbs sliding over my top, (slowly) when i got back and washed my jeep up i noticed that on my passenger rear, window,,the threads had let go in two places on the "top" portion of the zipper, the top is the original top, so its old, "90YJ" is there anything i can do to fix it, or do i need to take it to a canvas shop and have it re-stiched? im looking to get a new top this fall, and the tops coming off as soon as it warms up some more, but having two holes, (where the treads let go) in the sides of my zipper bugs me, thanks, Johnp,

im now definatly addicted, i have gone so far as to deliberatly get stuck just to use my new winch, theres no cure,

Hmmmm. Thread rot. Very bad for top.

You could have it restitched to hold it until warmer weather, but be warned that that other seams are probably not far behind.

Nope you are just putting off the inevitable. Take it to a boat shop where they repair sails or seats have them restich it or get youeself some sail needles and sail palm and hand stich it.

An auto upholstery shop can re-sew the zippers for you. I suggest that they are all in about the same condition. Go the the local upholstery shop and see what they can do for you. You should be able to get the seams repaired for a fraction of the cost of replacement.
