I recently had problems getting my '93, 2.5L, YJ to start. After some fiddling around it appears to be the starter relay and the Auto Off relay do not make a good connection in the engine compartment fuse box. I cleaned the contacts on the relays and used up 3 cans of electrical cleaner on the holes. The YJ starts fine for a couple of times and then quits starting. I was told ( a couple of years ago) there is corrosion seeping up from the wires into the connections and this problem will only get worse, not better. Well, I guess it has finally gotten to the worse end of that scale and I can't fix it by cleaning it anymore.
What are my options? The financial administrator (my loving spouse) is not too hot about spending another 1200 - 1500 on a wiring harness replacement (dealer provided option). So here is what I'm trying to find: A low tech work around I can use? Wiring diagrams for this fuse box? Wiring diagrams for the relays? The wisdom of the jeep gurus!
Maybe if I understand a little better what they affect I can patch over it.
Thanks!!
