Stop the beeping and flashing

Feb 26, 2004 2 Replies

I have a 2001 Wrangler Sahara and have always been annoyed by the loud beeping that goes with leaving the key in the ignition or leaving the door open, etc. (I don't find these reminders useful as I do not often lock myself out of the car or drive off with a door swinging open.)

However, now I have a new problem - the contact in the door switch is playing up. While I am driving along (with the door closed) the interior dome light comes on at random intervals. This is particularly disturbing at night - I can only imagine what other drivers think I am up to. Disco perhaps?

Can anyone tell me how to get at the door switch? I can't see an obvious way to open this or remove it from the door well for repair/replacement?

Thanks in advance, Lee (Disco-Jeep)

You can pull #4 fuse to disable the door switches for running doorless as well as it kills the beeper.

The inside light then still works with the light switch.

This will disable the switch that detects that the door is open.
