tire review Firestone Destination A/T

Well, day three of the new tires and I can say they are much more quiet than the A/T Revo's were. They also handle quite well. To be fair my front bushings were totally trashed so the improvement is more due to that.

We got a bit of rain so of course I had to test them. They clear well in mud. With any luck I'll get a chance to try them out on some remote access roads. Might get a chance to go down to Alamogordo again.

That and the Revo's only lasted 29,000 miles before the tread got to the wear bars. They might have made another 10,000 or so but no where near the rated 50,000. The previous Mich LTX M/S wore out at 49,000 miles and actually had some tread left. I'd just damaged the tires too much and the sidewalls, well, they weren't too happy even though one had a nice smile.

The interesting thing is these Destination A/T's like to be at about 40psi (vs 34 on the door sticker). I've checked using the chalk method and at 40 they exhibit a dead even wear pattern across the tread. .shrug. works for me.

I'm thinking I'll keep them at 40 except for long highway where knocking off about 2psi would accommodate for pressure due to heat.

We now return you to your previously scheduled parade of political pundits and talking heads. The news these days is NUTS. owell.
