Tow bar requirements - Cherokee

I've been offered a tow bar from a 96 Cherokee Jeep at a fair price - what I need to know, is, will it suit my Cherokee Jeep 1995? Mine is a 4 litre, and the one it's on at the moment is a Diesel. Unfortunately, I'm not near any of the vehicles right now, so I'm running blind....looking for help. I don't know if there are many different Cherokee Jeep types.

All help appreciated, Thanks

They used the same drawbar from '84-'01 so you should be fine.

On my '00 XJ the exhaust hanger bolt was secured by Lock-Tite and it took two farm boys and a breaker bar to get it loose.

A tow bar and a receiver are two different things. Are you talking about the part that bolts to the rear, or the front of the vehicle?

If it's a receiver (back of the vehicle) be sure it's a class II or better. Class I's are a waste of time on a Cherokee. Is it OEM or an El-Cheapo U-Haul unit? Is it rusted? Does it bolt on or does it need to be welded? Welded units are generally something to avoid - welding on a vehicle frame badly weakens it.
