LOL!

Is there anything 'right' on it?

DING DING DING You are correct... I've rolled my eyes at many of these diagrams but that takes the cake.

i'm a 'design engineer', so i get to make 'purty' drawings like that all the time. mine are usually a little better, though.

bob z. usually hangs out in comp.cad.solidworks, but found rec.autos.makers.jeep+willys since the rubi was acquired.

I am looking for a very simple, preferably free program that could make those drawings. I'm looking for freehand, lines arrows, shapes, colours & text that can create and alter bmp/jpg's - any recommendations?

Nope, the forward label is correct, BUT it's a ZJ Grand Cherokee rear suspension, not an XJ front.

I win. What's the prize?

Hey now!

I think I already tagged it was the wrong one.... ;-)

Mike, maybe my reader didn't post your response, I only saw one from you...

Everyone except Bill thought the problem was the "FWD" arrow pointing the wrong way. That's incorrect. He came close when he guessed it was a diagram of a TJ rear axle, but if you look closely the upper lip of the frame indicates it's the frame member of a unit body vehicle, and the axlehousing looks like a Dana35, therefore it would be the rear axle, left side, from a ZJ Grand Cherokee.

What was the prize again?

:-)

I just said, 'what is right', I had it figured it wasn't what it was supposed to be... ;-)

aint much, but it's mine.

I see two things. one the upper arm should have a a bushing in the axle and in the arm. that and its pointed the wrong way. that and mine has torx not hex bolts

Clymer's manual for Honda GL_1000 goldwings shows a diagram of carburettor jet locations where they reversed the locations of 2 jets, in the four carbs. The bikes run terrible that way, and get very bad mileage. It can be difficult to figure out, as it takes a real Honda manual to straighten it out. It has been dubbed "Clymers Disease" . Don't believe everything you read!

Interesting... when did they start using an offset pumpkin on the ZJ rear end? ;-) For your efforts, I will send you 1 lb. of genuine Canadian XJ door rust. This highly sought after collectable will come with a certificate of authenticity.

-Brian

Hey Bill, this is a front axle... no front leaf springs on the XJ... older FSJ's had them however.
