YJ front brakes - anti-rattle clips

Sep 28, 2003 3 Replies

Good Morning,

How the hell do the anti-rattle clips fit on the front brakes? I have a '93 YJ and am redoing the front brakes. When I took them apart, there was no clips. Now, I've heard they were not an original item, but an add-on fix if anyone complained (TSB type of thing).

I have the factory manual, and see a picture, but it's not very clear on the orientation and exactly what it holds onto.

Could I just skip them since I don't remember any rattling before I took them apart?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tony

Follow-up:

OK, nevermind on how they go on, I found a better pic in the Hayes manual (imagine that).

Now, I put them in, and they are rubbing on the rotor. Sounds like I'm turning the damn rotors as I drive. I think I'm taking them out and returning them for my $$$ back.

Thanks

Tony

Hi Bill,

I have the long solid bar facing the rotor, and the open bent ends facing out towards the back of the jeep. Every picture I've seen shows it that way and the manual says to keep the open part away from the rotor.

Am I ass backwards?

THanks

Tony
