sub-frame campaigne

One of the few times I have a small negative about a KIA dealer. In June, I got a campaign notice from KIA about our '02 Optima needing to have the sub-frame inspected for possible corrosion. As this has been a Chicago car (salt), I wanted it done quickly. Our local KIA dealer closed, so I was forced into going somewhere else, much deeper into the city, now Indianapolis. I made an appointment for July 6th, but got a call from them saying the hadn't received the tool required for the campaign - they'd call me back. After several calls from me to them wherein they claimed they didn't have the tool, then they did have the tool but broke it, then didn't, then did but broke the newest one, then didn't..... I got the car in. And yes, the entire sub-frame had to be replaced. Here I must credit the dealer, they got the job done in one day. Now? The car has a wicked pull to the right at highway speeds. Because my nearest dealer is now a ½ day event simply to drop the car off & return home, I am going to have my local, trusted mechanic check it out. I'll let you know what they find.

Got the car back. It was, in fact, an alignment issue caused by the KIA dealership technician not "finishing" the job. So, if you must have the campaign done to your car, make sure the dealer understands a post-subframe replacement alignment is part of the deal.
