Ebay see's a few.

101 Club has listings in their quarterly magazine "Six Stud"

Yahoo's 101 Group is a good place to place a Wanted and often some one will know of one for sale and give you a tip off if they know your actively seeking one.

What sort are you after?

hiya looking at one to do a camper conversion on, but im not sure on prices or reliability and a few other issues

need to find out internal dimensions, whether the bodies can be made bigger as i would like to stand up in one.

If you want a roomy camper, you don't want a 101....

I've given up on my camper conversion. It's just too small for any more than 2 people. Two nights with a teething 1 year old proved the point perfectly...

I'd have thought a 130 ambulance would give more scope for increasing standy-uppy room. but then it'd not be a 101.

someone will be along presently with some numbers I'm sure.

MOG's done / doing a 127 ambi and had a 101 before I seem to recall there was more space in the 101 oddly.

You can do a camper conversion on a bog standard 109 station wagon, at least I have, trouble is that it is a bit cramped, rather cold, and the extra weight only adds to the lack of performance. As for standing up, I intend to use a tent on the back over summer.

Go the whole hog. Bedford TM with a box body on it - you could in theory stick a small static caravan on the back and be a happy bunny indeed.

I may do this at some point when I have large amounts of money sitting going "Spend me"

Surely an 8x8 man if you really had LARGE amounts of money :-)

If I had LARGE amounts of money then it would be something a little cooler. Maybe that VTOL C5 from TKR......

Nah, a TM would do for me.

Someone call? ;-) Yes I have. Off the top of my head dimensions are remarkably similar but I'd need to check my notes.

DAMMIT!

Don't do that to me.

My wife *will* kill me if I go near that, and unfortunately she's not here just now.

Looks like a nice motor though - any ideas on what a sensible price for that would be? Paying for all the mods is unrealistic, but even so...

Yes, cheers Steve, you've just caused the beginning of the breakup of my marriage.

I'd also be interested to know what it's worth...

Pas de probleme ! Change wives. Get a more reasonable model. "My" 101 ambi is technically Lizzy's. She is as fanatical about our 101s as me. But slightly less inclined to get filthy under one. Though there is room ;-) Steve

"My" 200tdi Disco was technically Abby's. She hated it. I don't think she's going to fall for that one again :)

Andy has spent around 12-15K on it. He'd accept about 7 or 8K I reckon.

The issues list is going to get much, much longer. A 101 is an ideal camper or long range expedition vehicle, but with caveats.

Forget it. Although this can be done, you'd be better looking for a bigger vehicle in the first place. A 101 is either something that you REALLY MUST HAVE or something to be avoided at all costs. DO NOT fall fould of the many a sad story of buying one, then part converting it then changing your mind. Not only will you be throwing money away, but you could also find that an original ambi (for example) will be worth more in the longer term than one converted to a camper.

Before you go any further, go see one, sit in it, try to imagine what you'll have to do in order to stand up in it - and how the truck will look if you mod it in this way.

I really must finish my article for Six Stud on camper conversions...

I've always quite fancied a Tatra 813. 17-and-a-bit litres of V12 diesel power. 20 forward and four reverse gears. 8 wheel drive.

*cough*5mpg*cough*. Built in engine driven 20ton winch that will winch forwards or backwards.

Bit impractical though really.

How about an Escaro, 8x8 based on Defender axles, engine and drivetrain, much smaller but still a juicy looking vehicle! Get spares from your local Landy dealer ;-)
