1996 Discovery LH Door lock mechanism broken piece

Hi all. Posted a couple of weeks ago about a broken door lock. I have attached a link to two digital photos of the piece in question. Starting from the end of the lock closest to the interior is a metal clip. Next is a piece that spins with the key. The piece in question is next and is attached to the power door lock actuator. I can tell that the piece used to be a complete ring so that the piece moving with the key could lock and unlock via the power door locks. Without having to buy a whole new lock assembly (in United States), can anyone state whether I would be able to remove the clip and replace the broken piece if I can find a source for just that piece?

The first picture, DSCI0015, shows the lock head on. The next, DSCI0012, shows the gap in the broken piece.

I think I tried to fax you, but just a nice American voice telling me I miss-dialled!

Anyway, that bad news is that you have to have the whole assembly :-(

I wonder if the piece is PVC if it is it may be worth stripping it down and trying a specialist glue ( PVC plumbers adhesive I reckon ) to remake the fracture provided you get lucky the missing piece is in the bottom of the door I tend to overkill in that situation and would brace the crack as well Derek
