300 tdi timing belt change

Jul 20, 2005 3 Replies

my D90 300 TDi has just got to 60K, (it's a 1998 one so shouldn't need a mod kit) I want to get the timing belt changed.

What is the going rate for doing the job? other than the belt, what other parts should I supply to the garage doing the job? I don't feel confident to do it myself.

I'd not ilke to comment on the going rate bit, but all you should need is a belt and timing case cover gasket. The crank dust seal in the timing case cover ought to be replaced, but may not be strictly necessary (depends on your views on replacing seals automatically if they have been disturbed). The timing case crank and cam seals should only need replacing if there is evidence that they have moved and/or are leaking.

If i were you i would just get a timing belt kit with all the nesseary tentioners ect ect

Robin I asked the same question a month ago and was quoted £150-200 mogg
