Ok then, I feel slightly useful again :-) Seriously though, when I asked about the frequency in relation to road speed, that would have made it obvious that it was not the prop. At 40 mph the prop speed would have been much higher. You could work out the frequency (therefore the problem) using the circumference of the tyre at 40mph or factor in the diff ratio (maybe x2 depending on the state of the prop).
