So, who's definitely up for the away day in Derbyshire on the day after boxing day (27th December 2008 in case it wasn't clear!). Might even get Stanage Edge in this time if it's not too stupidly wet or snowy ... ;)
Please reply with just names so it's clear ...I'll start
A cracker! I take it it's still rough and boulder strewn then, last time I came down that one there was a nutter pedalling UP on a mountain bike but he had to dismount in the middle.
Can I suggest, then, that we do the routes we did before in reverse, with a 10am start, then if there's time and enough daylight, those who want to could either do Stanage or go to the pub!! Fox House is (sort of) just down the road ... ;)
I'll work out details of a good meeting point and stuff this weekend or next, depending on stuff ... ;)
What does everyone want to do, same as last time? Reverse the route? Stanage? Given time of year and potential for snow/water/s**te etc, I'd suggest we do the route the same as we did last time ... it's a lot easier to get down Roych than up it ... ;)
One thing I must say ... the Houndskirk road, the first one after the pub. When we went last time there was an area on the top that was a bit of a play area, where Nige had his 4' high wheel in the air moment ... Apparently that's NOT part of the lawful right of way, so I'll not be going on that bit this time. It seems a blind eye was being turned when we went, but since then it's been thrashed, extended and really cut up badly, so rather than screw it up for others we'd be better all of us just sticking to the track.
Other than that I've been assured that all the other tracks are not subject to TRO's and are still open. Stanage is open, but only one way apparently, which I've been shown by another group, but is potentially damaging. There are a couple of extra small lanes I will try to fit into the route as well, which could be at least alternatives if it looks too much anywhere else, or we could try to save them for another day.
Seems we've chosen a good day to go too, Saturday 27th, as most groups go on Sundays we'll hopefully not meet too many others coming the other way!!
As usual the best laid plans ... We're now going to be at the outlaws, in Nottingham, for the duration. Bit of a family issue so something I have to give other stuff up for.
Extremely sorry, I doubt there's anything I can do to get away, so I'll pass on the route to anyone who wants it, if you've got Memory Map it's got the separate lanes on and the route we took last time out.
Guttes, and again, sorry. Been really looking forward to this one ... not been out for ages it seems ... :(

If you manage to hit half term, there's a faint chance I can afford a run up there. Could always call mob-handed and see arse-features who sold me the rangie and duff him up for the hundred notes he ripped me on the tax.

Looks good, provided it's not all mudholes. Some of the pictures look a bit extreme for a tidy road vehicle. However, most places have more moderate stuff, which doesn't make such impressive pictures. I've not got any real desire to spend all day getting stuck in mud holes and being winched out.
So, 15th might be do-able. 15th is Harchery, I suspect. March would be possible, too - it's not too far from here for a day trip - and I don't use the rangie for school work, so provided I get home OK...
