aircon service?

Jun 08, 2005 2 Replies

Can anyone tell me what is involved in an aircon service? Mine seems to be less effective that it was.

I can understand that topping up the Freon (or whatever is in there) might help if there has been a leak, but what else do they do in a service?

Thanks,

Pieter

The aircon machine does it all.

  1. Remove the gas.
  2. Evacuate the system; create a vacuum.
  3. Monitors the vacuum, looking for leakage.
  4. Dries the system.
  5. Fills with required amount of gas, oil and tracer dye.

This normally sorts out most problems but there are things that can go wrong mechanically.

If your aircon is not as cold as it should be then a regas (as above) is the 1st thing to do after checking the belts and compressor. Retail cost is normally £60 - £70.
