Bar grips - where to get them changed?

Nov 21, 2006 9 Replies

Been to two places today that shat themselves as I asked them to fit a bar grip tyre to Morph's s[are wheel.

I could do with a good one too, the nice new one Lee gave me will do, the other front is a tad low, but will do as a spare for now.

Any ideas? Truck places etc?

Yes, go to truck tyre depot (eg ATS) or an independant based on an industrial estate, they usualy handle anything.

Get out into the country and try those who deal with the agricultural stuff. I can name several up in the Borders but that's rather far for you.

Failing that, as you suggest, the places that deal with truck sizes.

Yeah, it would cost me £300 in petrol!!! LOL!! I'll have a look for a local ATS then.

You need to buy yourself a diesel Defender to act as a support wagon for Morph!

Nige uttered summat worrerz funny about:

Our local truck place never batted an eye lid when I got a new tube in the spare (the radial one).... then again that isn't a bar grip.

Nige that spare that was on the front will sell on the club classifieds I have no doubt if you feel the need to recoup some beer tokens.... or keep it incase you fit a set of Radials all around.

When I swapped my bar slicks years back for Continentals I used an ATS truck depot, quite reasonable cost but felt sorry for the young lad detailed to do the whole lot manually! Going to have to do same again shortly as Continentals are all cracking with age, probably for XZL remoulds from Holland.

Hi Nige, ISTR you are in Bradford? If so, try these, they are just next to the Pound shop by B+Q.

Pop down to Otley to Coleman Tyres .. (behind "Otley Motors" ford dealer)

They are sorta into landies and service most of the local farmers ,, even if they cant help you, they will put you onto someone who can I'm sure

We're in the market for some Continentals or XZL's for the Vampire if anyone has a set sitting in the conservatory, the way you do...
