Chassis overhal

Hi all, I am just starting a chassis overhaul including all the suspension components, my question is where is the best place to get the bushes and nuts, bolts and washers etc: for the brackets and bushes from, and the other thing is, would it be worth the fitting of Pollybushes now or do I go for original bushes, I know this is the age old question but I am confused over the opinions on the news groups, the vehicle will do a bit of off roading and trialing but mainly will be on road so please give opinions or links to such sites.

Assuming it's a Defender, then all the bits (including washers etc not usually listed) are on the site below - most for other models are also there.

As for Polybushes or not - well, there are plusses and minuses, it's prety much impossible to give an opinion unless you have a particluar problem/circumstance you are trying to address. Bearing in mind how much easier and quicker it would be for LR to fit polyurethane bushes in production it's may be worth noting that they don't.....

Hi Richard,

Have you thought about offering a kit of bolts for doing specific jobs? It would be invaluable for those doing rebuilds to have sensibly packaged parts of a known quality rather than making do with large packs of generic nuts & bolts. It's a bit of nightmare wading through any website looking for LR partnumbers.

I'm speaking here as someone who has in the past recieved four hundred quid's worth of nuts, bolts and other "bits" in a "full" 110 CSW fittings pack from LR Fasteners (it's a pretty heavy box....) His packs are all very well and good (every LR part number hand written!) but are too big to be manageable and I was most displeased that the axle kits are seperate from the "full" kits.

So, can we see a "Defender front axle bolt kit, all bolts+nuts for assembling axle to chassis, complete with torque settings sheet" and "Classic Range Rover front axle fittings kit, commonly used bolts and fittings for rebuilding front axle, including all seals, bolts, brake pipe brackets, loctite and torque settings sheet". Follow on with swivel kits including bearings/railco, shims etc as well.

Thanks Richard for your input sadly it's a classic Range Rover so I need the correct ones for that basically all the bush bolts, washers and nuts, A frame chassis mount bolts 3 per bracket, etc The point about the pollybushes and why Land Rover do not use them could be that they are not all they are cracked up to be ( only my opinion I have not used any and is unfounded, just a statement ) but could be that they might fall apart in the assembly of the parts on the production line.. Oh well must press on.

Famous last words - but they shold all be listed - however the RRC pages are still "big long lists" - one day all the site will be like Defender.

Drop me a mail for a quote if you like.
