CV for disco

Apr 01, 2004 4 Replies

I need to replace a CV joint on my disco (lots of clicking during slow manoeuvres) but am not sure which to order - ****ocks list 2, one for a 10 spline half shaft, the other for a 24 spline and I'd rather have the right on to hand before stripping the hub.

It's a 96MY with VIN ending TA905***.

While I'm here - what else should I put on my shopping list by way of gaskets etc.?

Thanks

Chas.

I've no doubt yours is a 24 spline. There was a discussion on the

forum under Discovery which has pictures of a 24 spline. You can tell my looking at the end of the half shaft. If it is only slightly bulbous it is 24 spline and may have 24 stamped on the outside of it. The 10 spline is a lot more bulbous (if that's a word.)

ISTR that it goes by the axle number - did on the 110. Took some removal of accumulated scunge to read the sod, and I read it wrong the first time, which resulted in ordering the wrong one...

Have a look a the discussion.

Thanks Ed, and you Austin. I'll have a closer look before ordering, but it looks to be 24 spline.
