Defender bulkhead into a 300 Discovery....

Aug 23, 2006 11 Replies

I'm due to pick up a bulkhead for my Defender and want to collect it in my 300tdi Disco. I've messured the exisiting bulkhead (approx 3ft x

5ft) and the space in the Disco with the rear seats folded and it'll be tight I think...

but has anyone actually done it?

cheers Gavin

I imagine it will fit!. I have shifted a series bulkhead in a 2door classic Range Rover and i doubt that a disco is any smaller?

Could you shut the tailgate? I would imagine that would make quite a difference.

A Series III bulkhead fits comfortably in the back of a SAAB 9000 with the seats down: they are a lot smaller than you might think.

Can you imagine the vision that the title of this thread conjured up...... On opening and reading it, much more mundane. Sorry, can't help - my only experience is that the bulkhead easily fits in the back of a 109 2a, but that doesn't help, does it? JD

with you on that :)

I know - disapointing ain't it

still - has the imagination running wild :)

Sorry about the confusion....But I bet someone, someday will try to graft a Defender bulkhead onto a Disco!

Anyway, I can reveal that...

..A defender bulkhead does indeed fit into the back of a 300tdi Discovery. It hangs over the passenger seat (I removed the headrest) a little but cleared my subwoofer and didn't move all the way home. I just protected all the 'need to be protected bits' with thick cardboard. The bulkhead also had the entire dashboard, steering wheel, heater box and still brake servo in place I may add. It was heavy.

Cheers Gavin

Yep, shut perfectly, and we didnt have to move the fron seats forward or anything either.

Now......watch this space...although I suspect throwing away Piglets current shell and making a 100" hybrid is probably not the same either. But heck ..... as I say ;-)

'ere, speaking of mud... were you at malvern? notable mud-club presence there.

Austin,

Sadly I was on me hols ;-) However the club did really well by all accounts with record takings on the club stand :-) We even picked up a fair few new members.
