Disco Reversing Lights/Horn?

I hace a '95 disco TDI both my reversing lights & horn are not working. Is there any relationship. I've checked horn fuse (which one for rev/lights?) Checked bulbs on lights. Any pointers please. Cheers.

Looking at the wiring diagram, I can't see any connection between the two, wiring wise.

According to Haynes, the reversing lights share fuse #14 with the instrument (lights?), so if they are still working OK the fuse is probably OK. If you need to check the fuse is on the main fuse panel which is under the steering wheel. There should be a diagram on the drop down panel explaining which fuse is which.

Could it be something as simple as a dodgy earth or a wire fallen off somewhere. You may want to check the connections and make sure they are not covered in corrosion. Also, if memory serves, the rear lights are held in by bits of plastic which screw into an assembly with all the wiring connections built in. Are you sure you are using the right bit of plastic and not one for an indicator or something (not sure whether that would make any difference mind you!).

The reversing lights are triggered by a switch on the gearbox (LHS on the R380?) check that with a circuit tester - you should get no continuity/infinite resistance in forward gears and continuity/no resistance in reverse.

Failing that, check the wires themselves. Are any of them damaged in any way, because that could mean a break in the copper underneath. I had this happen on my old Series 3, thankfully close to the horn itself so it was a simple fix with a bit of spare wire and a couple of connectors.
