Dual Battery in 2002 Defender

Nov 11, 2003 6 Replies

I have a 2002 Defender 110 that I am trying to fit a dual battery system to. I would like to hear from anyone who has successfully fitted two batteries under the passenger seat. What type and brand of batteries did you use.

I specifically ask for 2002 Defenders as I am not sure if the battery compartment has changed since earlier models.

Main problem is the bottom of the compartment is not flat.

Just so happens that I have a surplus genuine Land Rover passenger seatbox twin battery mount, clamp, brackets etc as removed from my 130.

Erm.... lump hammer, flatten it ? or Marine plywood, flatten it?

Otherwise two optima batteries, what is the second battery for, interior ancilleries, such as fridges computers, long distance space communications or is it for a winch on the front?

Do you have a close-up picture, so I can see how the batteries can be mounted thanks in advance ! Fred "AN6530" schreef in bericht news: snipped-for-privacy@mb-m18.aol.com...

Do you know if this fits all models - mines a 1984 110CSW? If so, how much, as I'd be interested.

Pretty sure it will fit as the seatbox battery compartment hasn't changed that much over the years. Don't know where you are but you're more than welcome to come and try it.
