Gear Stick Shake !!!

Got a 2001 Freelander TD4 which appears to have just developed a fault. When I accelerate between 2000 & 3000 rpms the gear stick begins to shake quite badly, there appears to be a faint sound as well. Is this likely to be a transmission fault or something else. Does it sound like anything that freelanders are prone to?

Thanks

Soapydux vaguely muttered something like ...

Dunno if they're prone to it, but it sounds like a loose gearbox / engine mount somewhere.

Freelander Td4 can develop a loose/faulty engine mounting. It is a known fault as there is a modified engine mount available. Had mine replaced under warranty, thank god! Took two days, warranty bill £600+ !!!!
