I hate Paddocks!

Those who don't like to read gripes should hit Delete now!There was a drip from under the 300Tdi. Not serious, but it was there just the same. Diagnosed as a leaking fuel lift pump, so I ordered a replacement from Paddocks.Removed the old one. Both units look superficially the same. So far, so good. No compression nuts or rings supplied with the new pump. (That economy must have saved them all of 10p). OK, rings were easy enough to get from the local plumbers' merchant but I had to cut the pipes off the old pump to get the nuts off.Then I found I had to remove the injector pipes to get the new pump in. Funny, the old one came out OK. Then the pipes would not go back because the new pump is a different shape. Couldn't put the old pump back because I'd cut the tubes off, hadn't I? So I had to re-bend the pipes which is not so easily done.Now, instead of neatly alined injector pipes with those smart little clamps to keep them parallel I have something akin to a tangle of knitting and my beautiful 300Tdi is like a pretty girl with a tooth missing. I hate Paddocks! So when is a replacement part not a replacement part? And just how much modification should a purchaser be expected to do to get a "replacement" to replace the old? Derry

I ordered a set of valves for a SIII petrol some years ago from them and have nevery used them since. They managed to send 3 inlet and 3 exhaust valves that fitted and another two odd valves that could have been off anything - they were half the size!

When I sent the valves back with a letter explaining they were wrong I got a totally s***ty reply from John Craddock himself basically telling me to f*ck off.

I started using Paddock after that and have happily spent about £10k with them over the last 6 or 7 years without a problem, and I'm extra happy that none of that money has gone to Craddock.

has served me well so far and gets several other good reviews from people here. Small enough to give good service, eg sensible post and packing rather than the generic 10ukp sort of game.No connection other than a happy customer. Alistair
