Hej,
I have a 90 2.5td that is hard to start with intermittent THICK white smoke, i have fitted new injectors and glow plugs and lift pump and battery, so i reckon it could be the Injection pump timing or engine timing. How can i check this without an expensive trip to see the man??

There are timing marks on the timing case. The Haynes manual shows how to set the timing, though obvioulsy you'd just be checking it using the procedure.
