Land Rover 110 Double Cab Pick Up - payload allowance

To Whom It May Concern:

I'm writing concerning the Land Rover 110 Double Cab Pick Up. Firstly I have to admit that (a) I'm not an expert in vehicle mechanics or an engineer and (b) my enquiry is non commercial in nature. I require information that may or may not result in a proposal for developing a specialist vehicle.

The payload allowance for the aforementioned vehicle is 1080Kg.

Question: can this allowance be increased through the use of alternative (readily available) parts, such as new suspension, axles and wheels? This without having to rely on an additional third axle (6x6 or 6x4). Can you recommend a solution ? where possible detailing individual replacement parts. I would like to increase the payload allowance to around 1800-2000Kg.

I look forward to your reply

Kind Regards

Phillip Rhodes

From the technical rather than legal point of view, this should be possible by fitting 130 springs and wheels etc., and probably some chassis reinforcing especially the rear spring brackets. The legal situation will depend on the jurisdiction involved, and will vary from no action needed to "can't be done". JD
