Laning: Anyone up for North Yorkshire?

ISTR they said it was a scratchy one so not for me bud. If you were planning on making a weekend of it you could go to Langdale Quest for a day. Might be up for that.

We will be up that way in Oct half term (YHM) due to not being able to get weekends off either end of the half term we've booked in for mid week up at a site 5 miles out of Whitby.

Won't be laning though, firstly because were in Jeeves (fingers crossed) and secondly because Mrs_D ain't taking to kindly to being shaken about at the mo... ask again post February '08 :-)

We could come up, bit im skint at the moment and cant afford the diesel, so we'd have to golf it, which means no laneing.

We're there 28th 29th and 30th this month anyway. Well, not just Langdale quest, but caravanning in Scarborough somewhere, so planning to have a full day laning at some point, 4 hours at Langdale then rest of day laning.

Be up for meeting anyone and laning as a group rather than solo, I know from past experience with Lincs LR club that some of the N Yorks lanes are a bit dodgy ... it's where I bent my towbar and put the support arm into the diesel tank ... ;)

Just out of interest (as a near-Whitby resident but not an LRO reader), which lane IS this? Just rough details will do -- starting and ending points, compass direction. I can think of a number of marvellous roads across the moors here, but I'm not so familiar with any 'scratchy' ones.

Just looked in LRO and the 'scratchy' lane isn't the one near Robin Hoods Bay, it's a different lane, in a different article, in a different county, and in a different bloody country, Wales ... ;)

The text for directions to the lane at RHB are .. "Half a mile inland from the coast, just outside RHB. A gated UCR (Un-Classified Road) is marked at it's entrance by a sign that informs us it is 'Unsuitable for motors'. .... It descends to Mill Beck. swings left and joins the Beck for 200 yards "

... so looking on my OS map that seems to suggest it's a road that leaves Fylingthorpe called Middlewood Lane, which 'becomes' the UCR mentioned, which you follow through Mill beck and South House Farms, and emerge to a cross roads, to turn left towards Boggle Hole, or straight on to follow what looks like another UCR towards Stoupe Bank Farm and Tinklers Stone.
