Oi Tim!!

I was wondering that myself! I haven't seen it since Saturday - I know Warren has been fiddling, but he's having to fit it in between other work (not least Martyn's GS).

I'm leaving him to it at present, but will probably nip down to Sheffield tomorrow for a review of where we are. We seem to be heading for an engine strip :-(

Still, that's a great opportunity for lots more shiny RPI bits...

It's still outside - the neighbours have all moved, so it's not a problem :-)

He had it running yesterday - sounded very sweet - however I reckon a good top end rebuild is a good idea anyway - especially as it isn't going to cost the price of Dorset.

I'd certainly go for a cam, followers and timing gear. It was interesting to see the wear on the old dizzy drive - this isn't what one would have expected from an engine of that age/milage.

Yup . My thoughts too, Anything thats causing the curent problems has to be ancillary to the engine block it's self. I'd adopt a strict if it's not broke don't fix it attitude to the Cam just yet... as Tim has said it's been running like a train before being tinkered with. Doubtless it will need replacement soon, but I wouldn't let it add to the list of things that may be wrong just yet.

Did the Rpi site shed any light...those dual point beasties appear to be a bit complex / time consuming to set up properly..and they were quoting big Timing figures BTDC on there site.

Actually I'm afraid I didn't. I was so wrapped up in carbs and distributors that I never got as far as brakes. They are still on the agenda, but I have to consider whether I am going to replace my front axle first, and also whether I am going to fit power steering, and in what order!

Not to worry. I guess consistency is important, so on this basis you have an excellent "record".

I think that you will not have to wait until next year to see them as they are now starting to appear all over the place. And shortly in even more vehicles, some of which will be both front and rear axles.
