News.individual.net gets very, very few in comparison.

Nin is free to use, but you do need to sign up for it, and it's a text only newsserver.

I use Nin for 'decent' groups and NTL for por ... er .... binaries .. ;)

Quite agree, I use News.Individual.net for most Ngs but still use the useless BT for binaries (on which they still miss a lot of posts)

Incidentally, isn't it great the way the Police were able to get that chap who "Trolled" the grieving relatives of the tsunami victims and within 24 hours lock him up whilst awaiting trial. So they can do it, so why can't they do it to all UK trolls? Is it just the will?

Maybe he wasn't to bright (goes with out saying almost) and didn't cover his tracks very well or at all.

No, it's because what he did caused real suffering and is illegal. He was impersonating the Home Office, I believe.

'They' could, but Trolls are just morons who need to see their name in print, and there are no laws, as such, against what they do. If they do cause real suffering, or libel or somesuch, then maybe there is something that can be done, but it would probably be a personal case, not a criminal case.

And maybe one of his victims knew what they were doing, and likely would be angry enough to do it.

I would have thought the anti-social behaviour laws in the UK covered it. It's just another form of jobbish behaviour.
