Poor old Percy...

I happened to take a Glance at him tonight while I was out on the drive. I don't think he's moved since last October when he died on the way back from filling up at the petrol station (twenty miles after his MOT) and never fired up again.

Binned the Jag lump.. nearly completed the V8 instalation in the spring... then attention diverted to Morph (paint) then work , then holiday ...He's falling apart... Chassis appears to be beyond being worthy at the back end now between the spring Hangers... sniff... It's not even got he paint dirty from the last patch I put on the otherside. How frustrating is that!

Far too much on to see any progress this Autumn.

Now here is the dilema... Scrap or Rechassis? And if I rechassis do I rechassis and restore as IIa or Rechassis and go with the current almost nearly runing runing gear (engine untested but a spare in the garage). Then there is the Galv or not galv question and subsequent complications of relocating engine mounts on a galved chassis.

IIa - it's tax free, right? I'd rechassis it as original as possible to keep points. Definately galv, engine mounts won't be an issue - go to Richards chassis and they'll put the mounts wherever you want before it's galved.

Why not go for a ¼ or ½ chassis?

Most chassis places will put the engine mouns it the appropriate place for you.

Rebuild as a standard series II, I would. You've got other toys. Do it right and you'll have a reliable motor for about the next 30 years.

I wondered why we hadnt heard about any progress on Percy!

I often think about getting rid of my normal landy, but then i realise that it only really costs me the insurance and a small amount of maintenance each year to keep it. If it wasnt tax exempt it would be a different matter.

I'd go for a rechassis - Percy is too tidy to scrap!. Even if you dont use him much he doesnt cost much to keep!

If you get a proper chassis made up, the people making it should be able to give you the choice of any engine/gearbox mounts or battery trays (like under seat ones) that you want. designa chassis did anyhow.
