Quick Question - V8 Weight

It'll be fine, the engine is definitely less than 200kg with flywheel, carbs and starter etc, about 185kg if my memory serves me right..... Badger.

It won't fit in your shed.

Unless you take the trolley jack out...

On my engine crane I sometimes use an old set of lifting chains. I've happily lifted a 110 engine and box with 'em, also lifted the whole front of the 110.

On examination, I find that the ring in the middle is stamped "S.W.L. 13 cwt" Ooops - I suppose that could be a rating for a single chain

- seems very low, given the size of chain, for both together. Mind, never showed any sign of failing. But perhaps I ought to buy a new, bigger set - the crane is rated to 2T...

My current list of "wants" is a nice tall dutch-barn roof over a spare bit of ground between 2 sheds, concrete floor and a 4-post lift inside. Paradoxcially, the 4-post lift looks like being the cheapest bit of the operation...

The lazy buggers round here have an online application process for them which they totally ignore :( I'm now moving on to the next approach which is talking nicely to a guy i know who clears them out for a living!

Hah - I'm about to reclaim my 10m x 8m shed and then I can install the lift I acquired at an auction recently, and move the rest of my tools and assorted stuff there too.
