I just like to see people's faces on 'Posh' campsites when I light the Kelly Kettle and then go on to cook dinner in one of John Muirden's South African potje pots. If you don't know what one of these is, have a look at Unbeaten Tracks at Billing, or look in Anchor Supplies, who also sell them. They are a cast iron cooking pot like a dutch oven which you can use for everything from boiling water to baking bread and I use mine for most of my cooking in camp. If you can't light a fire they work just as well on a barbecue and are brilliant for curries etc. Before anyone asks, I have no connection with John Muirden's company, but like the Kelly Kettle, when I you've got a potje pot, you can cook anywhere withiut gas etc. If you do get one, try typing in Dutch Oven on Google, there are dozens of pioneer recipes from the States for them. I have something pretty similar, well two of them actually - cast iron pots about 20"diameter with lids, hanging handles that I got from a car boot, with a cast iron wok. Very usefull on my solid fuel rayburn. I've also seen them at Anchor Supplies.

They are used a lot here in Australia .

We went up the Canning Stock Route 2000km of off roading totally inaccessible took us 14days and we used a camp oven to cook our daily bread ration. Tasted really great.
