Although... are Phil Gardiner and Paul Everett actually the same person? :)

It's occurred to me that we have a high incidence of dog ownership in this NG. There are 7 featured on the group page, purely by chance, and I know there are more out there.

Are Land Rover People generally Dog People?

Most round here have dogs in, there is even a local 101 owner that races huskies..

I have 2 dogs myself..

He'll have no chance in a 101.

I'd type a longer answer, but there isn't enough room under this cat.

I'm definitely a dog person, but my dog is also definitely a Land Rover dog. When I bought my first Landy and left it on the drive with the back door open, he flew out of the front door, screamed up the drive and launched himself into the back and then sat there with his tongue hanging out, as if to say "come on, when are we going?". He'd never seen a Land Rover before, and didn't like cars. I'm helping to set out a trial tomorrow, and he'll want to do all the gates of all the sections (in 4-leg drive) hoping to get a clear, or a share of my sandwiches at the least.

I've not approached him as he's a miserable grumpy sod by all accounts, the 101 is painted up black and white with "Kalynkas Racing Huskies" (I think that's right) on it, he used to have a RR. He must live near me as his 101 spends all day most days parked in the car park over the river. If I ever see him with his 101 I'll go say hi and coo over it a bit, that should soften him up.

I'm definitely a dog person. I think the longest I've been without a dog since I was about 7 was about 2 months.

Unconditional love is great eh?

He'll fit in well with the 101 club then...

If you could let me have any further details, like Reg etc it would be interesting. Also (head down) maybe suggest he join the club. I've almost finished wading through all of the new members and paperwork* so should be able to turn his application around within a month or so!

  • Anyone waiting on new member packs or renewal - these are being posted early next week.

Yup - that is kind of echoed here, too!

Max has a 'thing' about most landies, but has a 'special thing' for the Discovery. He was a 'rescue dog' and had very bad seperation anxiety when we got him. The only place he feels 'safe' is in the Disco. This is generally fine as we can leave him there when we go to a restaurant (not in the summer, obviously) without him working himself into a state and trashing the house. The slightly odd thing is when he sees so many Discos at landie shows - he'll try to jump into the back of any with an open back door. This is usually met with a smile and an 'oooohhhh..', however on one occasion the owner screamed somewhat loudly, drawing much attention - good job I know the security guard at Safeways!

Send me a leaflet, I'll stick it under his windscreen wiper, then run away.

I'll send you a photo next time I see it.
