RIP: Boyd Coddington

Went to LA almost exactly 2 years ago and visited the shop/showroom - the man himself was away but I spoke to a few people (Including his ex-wife, she's scary in real life too!) and had a really enjoyable couple of hours there. I just wish sky/discovery would sort out the scheduling of the shows as i must have missed most of the last "new" series due to times changing etc. Boyd, to me, was an icon - in the same sense almost as a landy is an icon of the british motor industry. He will be sorely missed, that's for sure. Badger.

Only if you believe what the programme editors wanted you to...... In real life Boyd did an awful lot for other less well catered for people, especially kids and the elderly. He was an extremely approachable individual who would, by many accounts, take time out for people, because it's people that are important.

Overheard in the workshop whilst filming was going on - Filming director to Duane :- "Duane, you're on in 5" Duane to person next to him:- "Time to be an arse again"

So you're saying he was a fine actor ? Wonder why Chip Foose left him then ?

I'd not say he's a fine actor, neither are the WWF dudes, they are very transparent as are the cast of American Chopper. Watch them for long enough and it's more than clear when they are acting and when the true character comes out. Most if purely to try and increase entertainment value at a guess.

I could be wrong of course.

Chip Foose doesn't need to piggy back off anyone else which is why I guess he doesn't work for anyone and has his own brands much the same as Coddington.

I actually like to see blunt management on occasions I have to say. I the world of work I'm in I have far more respect for those that tell it like it is then get on with it, than those who pussyfoot around trying to please all and be all PC at the same time as sucking up to some boss/political big wig/latest hair brained scheme or another. Then again my end of work tends to be one where mincing around isn't an option.
