I've sometimes noticed that. Maybe he doesn't live off wilderness food at all - he makes it for the cameras and then throws it away, and lives off his fat reserves?
It's amazing what he can do with a few twigs and some dried moss though.

I've seen them in a T K Maxx store within the last few months. However, I picked up one as you describe, from a charity shop some time ago. I paid just over a quid for it IIRC. Works a treat, 20 watts according to the label, and keeps the coffee hot without ever boiling it.
