Hi, try this link...
oops, right page but scroll down to 'Halsall' as the manufacturer and you'll find a silver LandRover 90 Defender for £65.00 (CR3392 is the code). My three lads have this, apart from the towbar snapping off its great - Hi and Lo gears, opening doors, working lights and indicators and engine noise...do yourself a favour though put some sellotape over the speaker to deaden the sound of the engine, it's absolutely deafening!
Cheers, Ian Symonds. '93 110 CSW
Bloody hell it IS realistic!!
I saw a radio control Defender in my local dealers the other week. Any good?

Yeah...with the towbar and the engine noise, I guess it is!
Ian
Thanks for that it's perfect
although it has started me thinking about a nitro powered 1/10th scale Landie :-)
Hmm. Interesting. I was looking at a kit of a 101FC. The scale is 1/48
- does this mean that the model is 4" long? Or have I got the scale wrong?
If it is 4" long, I'm gonna find it's a bit difficult to make the kit without an electron microscope, unless it's two halves that you glue together.

A few things to know about the Halsall 1/10 Defender RC model.
I have bought 40 of them for the Land Rover Club of Greece members and about half of them have developed a fault with either the steering wheels shaking all the time (but still the steering works left and right when required) or the high/low mechanism breaking and remaining either in high (which is not so bad) or low (which is bad)
Another problem, when abused, is that the bullbar at the front breaks and with it the front securing point of the front wheels assembly gets cracked and renders the front wheels assembly too wobbly.
Apart from that it really is an impressive kit. My four years old son still have his in working condition, something which seldom happens with his toys after around 9 months of use/abuse.

Are you sure these aren't 'Genuine Land Rover' being marketted under the Halsall brand?!
Dave
But does it drip oil on the floor
now THAT would be realistic

On or around Mon, 15 Sep 2003 14:26:25 +0100, Alex enlightened us thusly:
1/4" to the foot. so yeah, pretty small. how long's a 101? about 10'? in that case, your 4" is about right.Made in Hong Kong by Halsall under license from Land Rover.
But on the other hand they are 100% Land Rover since they have serious design flaws and develop problems related to electrics and transmission assemblies.

They're everywhere, in all the franchised dealers and model shops, about £75 last time I looked.
15' top to tail. Or 4.6m Which makes it about 4or 100mm. I want something about twice that size really.
Alex
I've had that said to me before ;)
Dave
In model land, 1/48 is 4mm to the foot, and 1/24 is 7mm to the foot, so it looks like 1/24 (or if you like, 'O' Guage - about what Britains use) is what you want. There are plenty of models in this scale, but not sure about 101's tough. I'll get me anorak.
Richard
For ages I've been hoping someone would bring out a big Discovery model, no sign of it yet - the biggest one so far is the Britains/LRGP one, AFAIK.
Back in the VERY early '90sa german RC models company used to produce a Discovery in 1/10 scale with a lexan cover.
full working independant suspension front and rear, four wheel drive with center diff. Electric motor.
I found one such model at an ebay auction last year, bought it but have never used it. If you are interested let me check how much it has cost me and I will let you know of the price.
If you want one or more photos of it, let me know
Take care Pantelis
Not by me you havn't!
