hi please help, woke up this morning to find that someone has stolen my 110 landrover defender number plate A15 LJR. It is a plummy red in colour, with a roof rack that extends the full length of the landrover with rear steps (but this could have been removed) it is especially important that we get our landrover back as i had an accident in my other car 4 weeks ago in which i had to be cut out and spend 7 days on a spinal board and my 3 year old daughter doesnt understand why my car is missing her heart was broken this morning when the landrover had been stolen. Many thanks for your help. Please ring 999 if you see our landrover. sarah

Bummer, which part of the world?
999 is really only for *real* emergencies, people injured or being threatened/in danger, crime in progress, offender(s) still present/nearby, fire. How would you feel if trapped in car and people couldn't get through on 999 because some was reporting the sighting of a stolen car...
Every one really ought to know their local forces non emergency contact number. Pity they all vary...
0800 555 111 is Crimestoppers but I'm not convinced that messages will be passed fast enough to the relevant force control for things that need a fast but not immediate response.
If I see what I know to be a stolen vehicle on the road I will dial 999 without a second thought. Is a stolen vehicle being driven down the road not a crime in progress? The alternate police number I have for none emergencies is 0845
60 60 24 7 which I have used for reporting anti social behaviour.Mike
I have forwarded this on to other groups.

Mine stolen 2 years ago after 12 years of ownership Did in a panic phone
999 but even as they answered realized I shouldn't have and apologized
thanks for your comments on the 999 part of my mail but it the advice given by the police so i can only go by what they are telling me. crimestoppers do not action anything with immediate effect. The police want to try and catch these people if you can call them that as they are busy stealing landrover one every night in our area.
