Tell her to stop going past the Golf driving range. What car? Gissa clue.

Is she turning the Radio out using the volume/power knob or just turning off the ignition? If the former I have no idea if the latter she probably has the volume turned up loud and it's the sudden loss of power to the speakers causing them to move/relax. Happens with all speakers.
That is the reason the power knob is also the volume knob. You have to turn the volume down before the power goes off.
G'day,
Does she have the 'Traffic Alert' function switched on? (See a 'TA' in the radio display)

OK all you bright sparks problem cured!
Clip came lose under dashboard fell into radio and kept shorting it out until eventually there was big bang and loads of smoke. All came to a bit of a head today when fire brigrade called out. Wife and car was escorted, blue lights and all, to the local lookers garage nearby. Fortunately car intact but a lesson to be learnt for all those disco II TD5 2003 owners out there!! watch out watch out there's a clip about!
