Off down to the garage this morning for tea and sarnies. Trundling past loads of parked cars on both sides of the road, only one line of traffic can get thru' at once, when clunk! and no drive, the tw@ing thing dumps me in everybodies way and after wrestling with the two 'box levers for a bit I eventually have to get out and push while they all sit in their cars and bloody watch,,,,,, If I put the main gearbox in a gear all I get is a sound like two cogs are grating and nearly meshing, it makes no difference what position the transfer box is in. I've had the plate off the bottom of the transfer box and the gogs look ok. So, I s'pose it's got to come to bits. Can I get the transfer box off without the gearbox or does it have to come off as one lump? Do I really have to take the floor out like some bloke has happily informed me? The car is a '93 Defender 90 200TDi. Thanks for any input. I'm off to the pub now to grumble into a pint and shout at children.
