There's one for sale near me so I toddled off today to see it.
Now I don't wish to be rude but I can't see why anyone would want one of these beasties. It seemed to me to be slow, noisy, smelly, (years of farting squaddies) have a very cramped driving position (I'm six four and 19 stone!) and of very little practical use. I can hardly see myself tooling down to Tesco in it and it's hardly the vehicle for a school run.
I'm sure it's fine off road but the thought of a long road journey to get out to the mud is really off putting. I guess it would have to be trailered everywhere, which given it's almost single digit fuel consumption figures is probably the most economical way of moving it anyway.
The bloke selling it had a huge folder full of receipts for it, which proves that the thing breaks down a lot. The only good thing I could I could see was it looked just like a giant Tonka toy. I bet it'd be great to take to pieces and put back together again but it seems a bit pointless to buy a vehicle to use a three dimensional jigsaw puzzle.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all and I know there is a large fan base for this vehicle so what am I missing?
