William hi,

as already mentioned by Dave it most probably has to do with the electrolytes contained in Coke. May also have to do with the fuzzy effect of soft drinks.

Take care Pantelis

Hello Pantelis, I didn't mean you to take me quite so seriously on that point, and as I'm aware that not all s*it is the same, I think rather than start discussing it, we'll just assume we're both amateur coprologists ;-)

Either that or sit here talking s*it, which I suppose isn't far from what we normally do!

Those interested in the intricacy of poo could try joining the following website;

Some nice picture frames in the shop.

The coke in the coke and bannas squits hydration really only contains the water and sugar, the salts come from the bannas. TBH it's fine if you are still able to eat normally (ie keep things down) but if not you really need the ghastly tasting proper rehydration mixtures (or homemade equivalent, roughly 1l water, 1 level teaspoon of salt, and 8 of sugar to which you can still add banna to improve the taste as that is rich in potassium).

Not having liked coke since I developed taste buds I went for bananas and fruit juice, Sanguinello in fact, if my stomach can survive that stuff then it was plainly not that bad to begin with!

Ian Hi,

please do not worry my friend. I guess after all the years we all know each other we know that this newsgroup has a very active and generous sense of humour.

But, as always, I never leave such opportunities for totally off topic discussions to be left to go by.

On the other hand it is amazing how Nige has not jumped into this discussion. After all he should be an expert of this topic. At least this is what his signature says.... (LOL)

P.S. please excuse me but I will pass on your offer to the site. Enough poo discussion for a week (and more....)

Dave and Ian Hi,

nice recipes these ones.

Sanguinello is based on sanguin orange juice? Sorry for asking but sanguin orange juice is one of my favourites and I did not know that name.

(and it does sound like the last part of my family name so sanguin juice for Giamarellos makes sense to be sanquinello)

(lol)

Take care Pantelis

Yes, Sanguinello is just Sanguin orange juice (sanguin oranges are normally known as "blood oranges" in the UK), and has to be the strongest flavour drink that you can get in most supermarkets. I could drink it all day long. It's available in cartons from Tropicana, a well-known maker of fruit juices in the UK. I'm drinking some now, lovely stuff.

Ian Hi,

My son loves it also but we generally find fresh sanguin oranges and squeeze them at home.

Nice stuff and very good for your health (wish only kebab and pitta bread was as healthy)

Hello Pantelis, for some reason I've not seen a blood orange in the UK for ages, but then I'm not much of a food shopper ;-)

Mind you fruit juice is pretty bad for your teeth!

Makes sense with all those acids and sugar..... Washing your teeth is not that good either since you effectively rub them with the stuff used in sandblasting. But then again generations of dentists have persuaded everybody that rubbing our teeth with that stuff is healthy...... What they do not say is how much they receive from the toothpaste selling companies in order to promote to their clients the specific brand that subsidises each dentist..... I know that first hand since my mother was a dentist, two of my cousins are dentists (one is a professor in the University and the other is a lector but in a different seat) and I used to be the tax consultant of one of the main multinational companies selling these products also, so had to deal with the HUGE amounts given as "fees", promotional activities and bonuses, trips abroad, cruises etc)

Washing your teeth with fresh water and a nice relatively hard toothbrush and then a nice antiplaque and antibacterial alcalic solution is the best way to go.

Take care Pantelis

It's not quite grinding paste so don't go too over the top ;-)

I have mildly damaged my teeth using a polishing head on a brutal electric toothbrush with smoker's toothpaste and was warned off doing that by the dentist, they're not all evil you know! He also told me that mouthwash twice a week is enough to kill off bacteria, and warned me off using whisky instead when I suggested it would be as good! Doesn't do to turn up to work smelling of whisky anyhow.

In my experience it's more the hygenists who used to push colgate toothpaste on me, they get given a load of packs to give out to customers and get paid for each one they shift. However my current dentist and hygenist does none of those at all, other than reluctantly extoling the virtues of a specific brand of dental floss after filling the side of a tooth. That was only once in 5 years.

Sod the manual toothbrushes, electric ones are excellent! Just don't use the polishing heads all the time (it tells you not to on the box but I ignored it), especially not with smoker's toothpaste.

I wonder if I can rig up a toothbrush attachment on my air compressor..

As one of my mate's said some years back, what do you expect when you clean your teeth with Vim?
