car stalling

Jan 12, 2007 1 Replies

I have a 1995 SC 300 sometimes when I step on the brakes the electricial system stalls out the motor and the lights dim. sometimes the car loses it all. nothing works. No lights no radio, nothing. I pumped the brakes last time I lost it all and the car came back to life like nothing was ever wrong. This only happens once in while any one there with any ideas, I think it might be the brake light switch.Any help out there

If the car starts to stall as it slows down, the locking torque converter may not be unlocking. The transmission electronic control unit (ECU) is supposed to get a signal from the brake light switch when the brakes are applied, telling it to unlock the torque converter.

Another possible cause is a stuck or faulty idle air control valve.
