Coding of LS430 Key

I have just received a replacement key for a Lexus 430 but it needs to be coded. Does it have to go to the dealership for this job. ?

You can attempt to do this yourself, might work but probably won't. OR, you can save yourself a lot of screwing around and have the dealership do it.

If you already have one working master key, here is how to program another master key: Make sure all windows are rolled up and all doors are shut.

From outside the car LOCK the car door with the key.

From outside the car UNLOCK the car door with the key.

Enter vehicle and close the door.

Start the car's engine.

Turn engine off and remove key.

Place your original master key in the ignition lock. (DO NOT TURN ON.)

Press and release the gas pedal 5 times.

Forcefully press and release the brake pedal 6 times.

Remove the original master key.

Place the NEW key in the ignition lock. (DO NOT TURN ON.)

Press and release the gas pedal 1 time.

Wait (about 1 minute) for security light to stop blinking.

Remove new key from the ignition lock.

Press brake pedal 1 time to close programming cycle.

Wait 15 seconds for programming cycle to end

Insert new key into ignition lock and start the vehicle.
