What is happening? Does the car not start?

First of all - do you own the vehicle or are you trying to hot wire it? If you own it, there should be a key which you put in the ignition switch and then turn it. That should do it! If you don't own it - well shame on you and STOP THAT !!!!

The key turns some sort of switch which makes a complete circuit to a starter motor from a battery. The starter rotates the engine and sparks come out of somewhere in the gas vapor filled holes. The vapor explodes and pushes down on pistons. And on it goes ...
