my ls 430 developed a problem - when the sunroof is open (completely open) it makes a metal vibrating sound - plus the actual roof shakes.
my local dealer (the one i picked up the car from ) claims that opening the sunroof creates too much cabin pressure while driving (55-60 mph)
is this a normal behavior for the vehicle or is this something that has got to be fixed?
My '03 LS430 displays no such behavior.
With the sunroof open at 55 or more, all I hear is a some wind noise (not much considering).
This was the same on my previous '99 LS400.

In general, the handling of wind in the LS430 is not the greatest. I have an '04 LS430, and if you open one window and travel at low speeds (under 40 mph), it creates a vibration that is literally painful to the ears. My wife's GX470 does the same thing. If you open another window on the opposite side of the car (even a crack), it equalizes the pressure somehow in the cabin, and the vibration stops. The sunroof acts the same way that a window does (open by itself, and you get the pain, open in conjunction with a window, and it's fine). I've just simply learned to live with it.
This can sometimes happen if you have one of the rear or front windows open just the right amount - you can set up a booming resonance in the cabin. But if all the windows are closed, you shouldn't have any noticeable rattling or booming at sane speeds.
