I recall reading a thread on the Garmin newsgroup that discussed nav map updates. It implied years can pass between the "freezing" the map data for a production release and the release of that content on a nav update. That is, map data that came with your '07 350 may reflect data as of '05. I would think that street/highway info, once constructed, change little over time but the POI stuff would be much more dynamic as businesses come and go.
Of course I could have entered the hotel's address (if I knew it).
