'00 (Y reg) Peugeot 206 problems

May 15, 2009 2 Replies

Hi, lady at work has a Y reg, 2000 Peugeot 206 petrol, dunno exact engine etc, but it's not a GTi ... ;)

Came to work yesterday and it was coughing and spluttering, with the engine warning light flashing.

When driving it has an intermittent power delivery, I was OK, but she kangaroo'd it everywhere with not enough revs. Given some revs it would work (ish) but was obviously (or apparently) firing on three cylinders, and intermittently really chugged as though it had gone down to two cylinders.

Had a quick look under bonnet but nothing loose etc, airbox and filter looked fine, oil was clean (ish) and at right level, all fuses were good, all electrical connections I could get to were sound, indeed I broke and re-made as many as possible but this didn't improve anything. No apparent oil leaks, water leaks indeed it all looked reasonably nice (FVVORN).

Any ideas? I thought it might be the coils, but I dunno Peugeots much at all and wouldn't know how to change them anyway! ;)

Cheers.

plugs first then coil packs
