1993 Vauxhall 1.4i keeps cutting out

Hi

My Vauxhall 1.4i keeps cutting after some time of driving, usually at red lights but also while moving. I have changed a lot of part to repair it:

-Fuel Pomp & Relay

-Amplifier unit

-Complete injector

-temp. probe but the problem is still there.

Does anyone got an idea for this problem ?

Thanks (excuse me for my grammar faults, i'm not a very good english speaker)

first thing you want to do is to stop replacing parts & get it hooked up to some diagnostic equipment. It might cost you about £ 25-30 but it will save you keep replacing parts you dont need & save you money in the long run.

good chance it is the TDC sensor

It seems that there is not a TDC sensor on this model (Astra 1.4i) :-/

I am in France, and i can't buy this type of tool here. Only the Opel (Vauxhall) repair centers have it :-/

in that case it will be the distributor or wiring to it.

You are supposed to go to the dealer and get them to check it.

This will be the C14NZ engine. Doubt it will have points on a '93 engine, so there will be a crank sensor.

I did that with a Pug 405. took it to the dealer and got it hooked up to the diagnostics and they took it for a five or six mile test drive. "Nothing wrong with it mate" Well, it cutting out after a run down the motorway and developing a lumpy idle is just my imagination?

When I told my brother, who is a mechanic, he took it for a quick spin and asked me a couple of questions. We stopped and he opened the bonnet, pointed and said, "It's that, the idle actuator and it'll cost you about £95." I bought one from Peugeot and Voila!

I am pretty certain they have a hall effect distrib. without any need for a crank sensor. I have had to fix these before, same fault, new distrib plus the bit of loom always fixed them.

But i has already changed it :) (and forgot to put it in my first post)

I would do as other posters have suggested.

Stop changing things until you know what is needed.

It is a 1993 car so it will not be rocket science.

Go to an Opel/Vauxhall dealer or a specialist with diagnostic tools and get them to tell you what is wrong. They will charge you but you will save money on pointless repairs.

Once you know the problem you can ask them how much to repair it oand either let them do it or take it elsewhere.
