2002 Renault Scenic Smart wiper problem

Oct 15, 2003 4 Replies

Just purchased Scenic, but cannot get the smart wipers to work properly. I assumed that when it rains, they automatically come on? There is nothing listed in the manual, and the dealer says they only work if the wipers are set to intermittent, but if i do this they swipe every 10 seconds whether its raining or not. any help appreciated

Smart wipers know when it's raining. You have to turn them on but when it's raining they wipe the water away and when it's not raining they just move harmlessly across the windscreen. It should work like this on all speeds.

Rain sensitive wipers come on when its raining, smart wipers are a separate feature that will put on the rear wiper automatically when you select reverse with the front wipers on. They will also change the speed setting when you stop moving - i.e. if you are driving along with the wipers on speed 1 and stop at traffic lights they will change to intermittent until you start moving again when they go back to speed 1.

Thanks to you both for replies regards jools

Tongue firmly in cheek, I presume!
