Ho hum, after the last big service the local garage advised that the rear shoes were on their way out (fair enough at 120k) and the rear cylinders need doing at the same time. Unfortunately they quoted 210 quid for the work!! I've decided to do it myself, but I have a couple of queries...
Looking on brakeparts.co.uk and eurocarparts.com there seems to be a lot of brake manufacturers doing the same parts eg Girling/Bendix etc. Does it matter which ones I get, and if it does, can I tell which ones I need before I take the hubs off? Total part cost should be about 50-60 quid, which puts the quote into perspective.
Does the group recommend replacing the hub nuts?
Anybody got any general tips for doing the work? It looks pretty simple.
