405 Mi16 throttlebody adjustment problems

I have a 1990 Peugeot 405 Mi16 with the Motronic ML 4.1 ecu. The fuel cut-off when decelerating has been rather severe and jerky and I decided to clean out and adjust the throttlebody and throttle position switch. But despite following the instructions in the Haynes manual I've now gone and made things alot worse. I've been able to adjust the switch so that it can be heard to click dead on the closing of the throttle butterflys but the idle rpm is now too high! I've done a thorough search on the internet But I cannot find any decent instruction on the correct angle of the butterfly valves at idle. Should they be completely closed? Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Kris
