Accel Pedal very hard to push - Is this normal on a T reg Citeron Saxo EC ???

The accelerator pedal is very very very hard to push - Is this normal on a T reg Citeron Saxo EC 998cc ???

Just bought an old banger for my son to learn in, and this struck me as strange.

Do I have a fault in the cable, as the carb seems to be very free.

Is there any thing I should watch out or any things that should be changed as its a known problem with a Saxo.

By the way where is the best and cheapest place to buy Citeron parts in Warwickshire or UK mail order ??

GSF or Eurocarparts are normally fine. New cable sounds like the solution, check the engine earth straps still attached & not earthing via the cable.

Not really to help the situation, but it's a single point injection engine; not a carb.

Thanks for that.

Now I really do know that I am a plonker.

If it's consistently hard to push but moves freely at the other end sounds like the cable or could be the pedal itself.

A strange problem you can get though is the throttle butterfly getting gummed up with whatever gunge is deposited there mainly I think by the crankcase ventilation feedback. This makes the pedal hard to push initially until the butterfly breaks free, then it works as normal. You can cure it by spraying acetone carb cleaner around the butterfly and throttle barrel.
